The most recognizable horror film antagonists of all time

HOCKEY MASKS WERE NEVER THE SAME AFTER JASON VOORHEES MADE HIS DEBUT IN “FRIDAY THE 13TH PART II.”

Jason doesn’t show up until the sequel, and he doesn’t even don his infamous hockey mask until 1982’s “Friday the 13th Part III,” even though the legend of Jason and Camp Silver Lake is first explored in 1980’s “Friday the 13th.”

There have been a total of 12 films featuring Jason and his unwavering pursuit of retribution against young people who engage in sex, and as time goes on, the titles get increasingly ridiculous (see: “Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan” and “Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday”). The most recent film was the Friday the 13th revival from 2009.

Even while Jason and his movies tend to lean more toward camp these days, the first three movies are really spooky, and his hockey mask has served as many children’s Halloween costumes.
