SAFE-T Act: The sheriff of Illinois cautions prosecutors against being “overzealous” in seeking out victims and catching criminals

After the state’s criminal justice reform bill takes effect, Illinois Police and state’s attorneys shouldn’t be “overzealous” when pursuing victims who use force to defend themselves, a sheriff told Fox News.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard, “you will see instances when bystanders take matters into their own hands and use what is hopefully an appropriate level of force to compel the criminals to cease committing the crime that they’re doing.”
