I was born and raised in the Nevadan city of Henderson, which is about 15 miles south of Las Vegas.

The Strip, the city’s main thoroughfare and home to numerous internationally renowned hotels, casinos, and nightclubs, is what makes Las Vegas most famous.

Although visiting the Strip can be thrilling, I rarely go there because my friends and I prefer to spend our time in Henderson, a stunning city of 334,000 people located approximately 15 miles from Las Vegas, enjoying the outdoors, participating in recreational activities, and supporting small businesses.

It’s been amazing returning to my hometown for a break and rediscovering all of my favorite things to do since I relocated to upstate New York for college. Outside of the Strip, there are countless hidden gems to discover. Here are some of my favorite off-the-beaten-path destinations and entertaining activities that I suggest tourists include on their Las Vegas itinerary.
